Game difficulty toned down (v1.03.1)
Jahu Island Crash » Devlog
After getting some feedback on the game after release, the overall opinion was that the game was too hard, and in most situations, not in a fun way. When developing a game solo with no testers during development, it is easy to learn to play the game perfectly and not notice how precise you are making the game. As such the game was due for some major balancing. I will probably not make any other major additions to this game, but these fixes felt too important not to make.
Changes made (from v1.02.2):
- Added a shadow directly below player to help pinpoint your location
- Added Coyote Time, which means the player can still perform a jump even if they slipped off a platform, to avoid annoying jump precision.
- Increased the time it takes for the number puzzle platforms to fall
- Increased the distance to the last laser wall, to give the player at least a bit of a chance to get through it even on the first try.
- Added better tutorial sign posts. They now tell you about settings & performing longer jumps. They also tell you about dashing on the first level, even though you don't need it there. Dashing does make some parts of the first level easier but it also makes movement more fun.
- Fixed a bug where laser course boxes would not move in sync
